It can be administered as an adjunctive treatment when blood sugar management is difficult, and monotherapy or monotherapy with metformin and sitagliptin alone is insufficient. Additionally, it helps improve blood sugar levels when adequate control has not been achieved with various existing combination therapies. Specifically, it is used in combination with sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin to enhance blood sugar control. This medication systematically supports patients' blood sugar management through various combined therapies.

Precautions

While taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling in the face or neck develop, you must stop taking the medication immediately and go to the hospital. Serious side effects have been reported, such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort, you must inform your healthcare provider immediately. Additionally, due to the metformin component, lactic acidosis, which is a rare but fatal metabolic disorder, may occur; therefore, if you experience sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or changes in consciousness, you should visit a medical facility immediately. Patients with renal impairment, severe infections, dehydration, or those scheduled for procedures using radiographic contrast agents should not use this medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, children under 18 years old, and patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function should not take this medication. Since this medication lowers blood sugar, hypoglycemic symptoms may appear when taken with other hypoglycemic agents, so please be cautious about hypoglycemic signs and react immediately if symptoms occur. Regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be performed while taking this medication, and special care should be taken in the elderly, as kidney function may decline. Excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of side effects with this medication and should be avoided. If undergoing surgery or experiencing serious infections or trauma, temporarily discontinue taking this medication and restart it after the situation stabilizes and kidney function is restored. It is important to maintain regular meals and exercise while taking this medication, and to consult healthcare providers immediately if unusual symptoms occur.
