This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is effective for those who have not previously received diabetes medication or have difficulty managing blood glucose with monotherapy. It is also helpful when blood glucose control is insufficient with monotherapy of metformin or sitagliptin. This medication can enhance therapeutic effects when used together with various other diabetes medications when blood glucose is not adequately controlled. It also contributes to improved blood glucose control when used in combination with insulin. It is used to enhance blood glucose control across various treatment stages.

How to take

Precautions

This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is used to help control blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. While taking this medication, there may be a risk of severe hypersensitivity reactions, so if any allergic symptoms, skin rashes, or breathing difficulties occur, you should immediately stop taking it and seek medical attention. Acute pancreatitis may occur, so you should inform your doctor if you experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite. Patients with severe renal impairment or acute heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or severe infection should not take this medication, and it may need to be temporarily discontinued before and after surgery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication for safety. This medication may cause hypoglycemia; therefore, it is important to have regular meals and be cautious during intense exercise. When used in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dosage adjustments according to a doctor's instructions are necessary. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, alcohol should be avoided while taking this medication. Regular renal function tests are needed as there may be a decrease in renal function, and blood tests are recommended as vitamin B12 deficiency may occur. Additionally, if any unusual symptoms such as blistering of the skin or severe joint pain occur while on medication, you should consult a doctor immediately. There may be drug interactions; therefore, if you are taking other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist, and you should notify medical personnel immediately if any unusual symptoms develop during medication.
