Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For instance, it is not suitable for individuals allergic to this drug or its components, patients with type 1 diabetes, or those with acute diabetic complications such as diabetic ketoacidosis. Additionally, insulin treatment is required for patients with severe infections, those undergoing surgery, or those who have suffered severe trauma, so this drug may not be appropriate in those cases. Caution is also advised for patients with severe liver dysfunction or heart failure, especially in cases of severe heart failure. Patients at high risk of hypoglycemia, such as those with pituitary dysfunction, adrenal insufficiency, malnutrition, irregular eating, vigorous exercise, or excessive alcohol consumption, should be careful. Patients with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction, or those with heart rhythm abnormalities or concerns related to a prolonged QT interval, should also use this medication with caution. Symptoms of acute pancreatitis may occur; if symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting persist, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylurea medications, particular attention should be paid to hypoglycemic symptoms, and if such symptoms occur, appropriate measures such as consuming sugar-containing foods should be taken. Individuals who drive or work at heights should be cautious due to the risk of accidents from hypoglycemic symptoms. If severe joint pain or the formation of blisters on the skin occurs while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately. It is advised that pregnant or nursing women avoid using this medication, as safety has not been established, especially for pregnant women. Safety and efficacy have not been confirmed in pediatric patients, so use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have reduced body functions, so careful administration according to a doctor’s instructions is necessary. In the case of overdose, general treatment should be administered, and the patient’s condition should be closely monitored, with additional treatment as necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided. When combining this medication with other drugs, take into consideration the possibility of interactions and follow a doctor’s directives, particularly when used with medications that can affect blood sugar control.
