This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered when previous diabetes treatments have not been adequate, or when sufficient control cannot be achieved with monotherapy using metformin or sitagliptin. Additionally, it can enhance therapeutic effects when used in conjunction with metformin and sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, in cases where blood sugar control remains inadequate despite these combinations. This is a medication that helps improve blood sugar in various situations.

Precautions
This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, and is used for the treatment of diabetes.
First, allergic reactions may occur when taking this medication, so if skin rashes, itching, or breathing difficulties arise, you should immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor.
Additionally, acute pancreatitis may cause inflammation of the pancreas, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort after starting the medication, you should visit a hospital immediately.
The metformin component can rarely cause a serious metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis, so if you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing, muscle pain, weakness, or abdominal pain, you should immediately stop taking the medication and consult a healthcare professional.
This medication should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, severe liver disease, acute heart failure, dehydration, severe infections, pregnant women, or nursing mothers, and you must inform healthcare professionals if you have any of these conditions.
Regular kidney function tests should be performed while using this medication, and it should be discontinued if kidney function worsens.
Additionally, this medication can cause hypoglycemia, so caution is advised during irregular meals or intense exercise, and the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used in combination with other blood sugar-lowering agents, so careful monitoring of blood sugar levels is essential.
It is advisable to avoid alcohol intake while using this medication, and it is recommended to temporarily discontinue use during surgeries or radiological examinations.
Rarely, severe joint pain or skin blistering conditions may occur, so if any of these symptoms appear, you should notify your doctor immediately.
