View approved original text

This medication is designed to assist in blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used as a monotherapy when starting treatment with diabetes medications for the first time, and as an alternative therapy when blood sugar control is difficult with metformin or sitagliptin monotherapy. Additionally, it is used in combination with metformin and sulfonylureas, or with thiazolidinediones when blood sugar control remains inadequate. In cases where insulin and metformin are used together but blood sugar control is still poor, this medication can be added to improve effectiveness. This medication works alongside dietary management and exercise to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
