Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Patients who are allergic to this drug or any of its components or have had hypersensitivity reactions should not use it. Additionally, it should not be given to patients taking atazanavir or rilpivirine, and to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with liver dysfunction, impaired kidney function, the elderly, and those with poor heart or lung function should use this drug cautiously. Particular care is required for those with electrolyte imbalances or who need to limit sodium intake. During the course of treatment, allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, or itching may occur, so if symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately. Regular blood tests are recommended as changes in red or white blood cell counts or increased liver function tests may occur. Various side effects such as cardiac-related abnormal symptoms, gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath, muscle pain, and joint pain may arise, so it is essential to consult with healthcare professionals if any abnormal symptoms occur. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures with long-term use. Additionally, hypomagnesemia can occur due to lowered magnesium levels, so regular monitoring of serum magnesium concentrations is needed when taking this for an extended period or in conjunction with specific medications. With a decrease in gastric acid, the risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections may slightly increase, and if diarrhea symptoms persist, Clostridium difficile infection should be suspected. This medication does not significantly affect driving or machine operation, but caution is needed due to possible drowsiness. There may be interactions when this drug is combined with other medications, so it is crucial to inform the medical staff about any other medicines being taken, particularly with warfarin, methotrexate, atazanavir, or rilpivirine, which should be used cautiously or not at all. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and caution is required for the elderly due to the higher incidence of side effects from liver function deterioration. These tablets should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing and must be kept out of reach of children. With long-term use, there may be the potential for symptoms of malignant tumors to be masked or diagnoses to be delayed, so consult healthcare professionals for any abnormal symptoms. Additionally, the risk of gastric polyps may increase with prolonged use; therefore, it is advised to maintain the treatment duration and dosage at minimal levels. No specific antidote exists for overdose, but appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, and regular blood and liver function tests are advisable.
