View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is particularly useful for patients who have not previously received diabetes medication and struggle to control blood sugar with monotherapy. Additionally, it can be used when blood sugar control is inadequate with metformin or sitagliptin monotherapy, or when substituting the combination therapy of these two. This medication can also be co-administered when blood sugar control is difficult with metformin and sulfonylurea or metformin and thiazolidinedione combination therapy. When used in combination with insulin and metformin, if sufficient blood sugar control is not achieved, this medication can be added to help maintain control. In summary, this medication effectively improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes patients who have difficulty achieving adequate blood sugar control with various existing therapies.
