Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in patients with type 2 diabetes to enhance blood glucose control by administering sitagliptin and dapagliflozin in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy.
This medication can be administered to patients receiving 100 mg of sitagliptin and 10 mg of dapagliflozin, taking one tablet once daily regardless of meals. The tablet must be swallowed whole.
This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, serious allergic reactions may rarely occur during the use of this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck appear, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, notify healthcare personnel immediately. Dose adjustment is needed for patients with decreased kidney function, and this medication should not be given to patients with severe kidney disease or those on dialysis. Dapagliflozin may cause dehydration and low blood pressure due to decreased body fluids, so elderly patients or those taking diuretics should regularly monitor their blood pressure and fluid status. Symptoms of low blood sugar may occur, so if insulin or sulfonylurea drugs are taken concurrently, caution should be taken against hypoglycemic symptoms, and medication dosage may need to be adjusted as required. This medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections, so treatment should be sought immediately if signs of infection appear. Furthermore, serious infections known as Fournier's gangrene may rarely occur, so if there is pain, redness, or swelling in the genital area, inform a doctor immediately. It is recommended that women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as well as nursing women, do not use this medication. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so seek appropriate treatment at a medical institution immediately. Finally, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery due to the risk of hypoglycemia, and this medication should be stored in its original container and out of reach of children.
