This medication is used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease from moderate to severe stages. It helps alleviate cognitive decline and slows the progression of symptoms to improve the quality of daily life.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be administered orally once daily and at the same time each day. It may be prescribed as twice daily if necessary. The dosage increment for adults should be as follows for the first 3 weeks, increasing by 5 mg weekly: First week (Days 1-7): Administer 5 mg once daily Second week (Days 8-14): Administer 10 mg once daily Third week (Days 15-21): Administer 15 mg once daily From the fourth week: Administer 20 mg once daily

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to any of its components. It should also not be used in patients with severe liver dysfunction or very poor kidney function. This medication contains lactose; therefore, it should not be administered to patients with a genetic disorder that impairs the digestion of lactose. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, or those at a high risk of seizures should use this medication with caution. Avoid concomitant use with specific medications to prevent severe side effects. Patients with changes in urine acidity or those who have recently suffered from heart problems should be carefully monitored while using this medication. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headaches, constipation, drowsiness, and increased blood pressure may occur, so caution is needed. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly central nervous system drugs, blood pressure medications, and anticoagulants, so consult a doctor or pharmacist if taking these. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of this medication, and it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding if nursing. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms may arise, and immediate medical attention is required. This medication may reduce patient responsiveness, so special attention is needed when driving or operating machinery.
