Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The two components, sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, work together to effectively control blood sugar levels. Taking this medication helps manage blood sugar levels more stably, thus assisting in the treatment of diabetes. Therefore, it is used to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
For patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg, one tablet may be taken once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.
This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin for diabetes treatment. Before taking this medication, the following precautions should be noted: First, sitagliptin may cause allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis, or skin disorders occur, discontinue use immediately. Also, acute pancreatitis may occur, so if there are symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting after use, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Second, it is not recommended for patients with type 1 diabetes or those undergoing dialysis. Additionally, avoid use if there is an allergy to the ingredients of this medication. Third, the dapagliflozin component should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney function or depleted volume. Older adults or patients on diuretics are at increased risk of hypotension or deterioration of kidney function, so regular kidney function tests and blood pressure monitoring are required. Fourth, since this medication lowers blood sugar, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, so watch for symptoms of hypoglycemia and adjust the dose of the respective medications as needed. Fifth, dapagliflozin may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections; thus, treatment is necessary if infection symptoms appear, and extra caution is advised for patients with a history of such infections. Sixth, this medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy, and it should be discontinued upon confirmation of pregnancy. It is also advisable not to use if breastfeeding. Seventh, for elderly patients, the dose should be carefully determined considering the possibility of impaired kidney function, and regular kidney function tests are necessary. Finally, in cases of overdose, immediate medical attention is required, and appropriate treatment should be administered according to the symptoms. During the use of this medication, if any unusual symptoms such as hypoglycemic symptoms, infection symptoms, or abdominal pain occur, consult your doctor immediately. Additionally, be cautious of hypoglycemia risk while driving or operating machinery.
