Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication can be administered as one tablet once daily without regard to meals for patients receiving Sitagliptin 100 mg and Dapagliflozin 10 mg. The tablets should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains Sitagliptin and Dapagliflozin and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, the Sitagliptin component may cause allergic reactions, so it should not be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity. Severe allergy symptoms such as anaphylaxis or exfoliative skin diseases may develop, and if symptoms are suspected, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought. Additionally, there may be a risk of acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting occur after taking the medication, the doctor should be notified immediately. Next, the Dapagliflozin component can lead to reduced fluid volume and renal function impairment. Particularly, patients with decreased kidney function, elderly patients, or those taking diuretics may experience low blood pressure or dehydration symptoms, making regular monitoring of kidney function and blood pressure necessary before and during treatment. Furthermore, this medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections, requiring prompt treatment if symptoms of infection present themselves. This medication is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and those on dialysis. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this medication, especially during breastfeeding as it may be excreted in breast milk and affect the infant. Since there is a risk of hypoglycemia, caution should be exercised for symptoms of low blood sugar when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas, and if necessary, the doses of those medications should be adjusted accordingly. Moreover, if symptoms such as severe joint pain or skin blistering occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor's consultation should be sought. Elderly patients or those with impaired renal function should take extra caution when using this medication, and kidney function tests are recommended before and after administration. In cases of overdose, general symptomatic treatment should be administered, and since some ingredients may be removed by dialysis, appropriate measures should be taken based on medical advice. Lastly, this medication's safety and efficacy have not been established in children, so it should not be used in patients under 18 years of age. Caution is advised for symptoms of hypoglycemia during activities such as driving or operating machinery while taking this medication, especially when used in conjunction with insulin.
