Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication can be taken by patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg, at a dose of one tablet once a day, regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication is a combination product containing sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, primarily used to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. Do not use this medication if there is a history of hypersensitivity, especially if there has been a previous experience of severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis or angioedema. This medication may cause serious pancreatic issues, such as acute pancreatitis; therefore, if any symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur while taking it, consult with healthcare professionals immediately. Additionally, this medication may affect kidney function, so caution should be exercised in patients with impaired renal function or those undergoing dialysis, with dose adjustments as necessary. Dapagliflozin may cause decreased fluid volume and hypotension; therefore, especially in elderly patients or those taking diuretics, regular monitoring of blood pressure and fluid status is important. This medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections; appropriate treatment should be sought if relevant symptoms occur. Due to the risk of hypoglycemia, especially when taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, blood sugar levels should be frequently checked and medication doses adjusted as needed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. The safety and effectiveness of this medication in pediatric patients have not yet been established, so it should not be used in patients under 18 years of age. In the case of overdose, immediate medical attention is required, and while some components may be removed through dialysis, symptomatic treatment is generally needed. During the use of this medication, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery due to the possibility of hypoglycemic symptoms, and it is important to regularly monitor kidney function and blood sugar levels as directed by a physician. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in its original container to maintain quality.
