Acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, can occur rarely; therefore, if you experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever, you should quickly notify medical personnel. The metformin component in this medication can cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis; if you experience sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain, you should immediately visit a hospital. Patients with impaired kidney function or conditions that affect the kidneys, such as dehydration, severe infections, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction, should not take this medication. Additionally, if you are undergoing imaging tests using iodine contrast agents, you must discontinue taking this medication for a certain period before and after the test, and resume only after confirming that kidney function is normal. It is advisable not to use this medication in pregnant or nursing women, or in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as its safety has not been established in these populations. During the use of this medication, it is important to maintain regular meals and exercise, as well as regularly monitor blood sugar and kidney function to ensure there are no abnormalities. You should be alert for symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially if taking insulin or other hypoglycemic agents, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, necessitating observation of symptoms and consultation with a doctor to adjust the medication dosage if necessary. In case of overdose, you should immediately go to the hospital for appropriate treatment; some components may be removed by dialysis. You should avoid excessive alcohol intake while taking this medication, and patients with liver or kidney dysfunction should be particularly cautious.
