Additionally, it may be used in combination with other antidiabetic agents when blood sugar control is insufficient. Specifically, it can be utilized alongside sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin, making it applicable across various stages of treatment. This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and contains two active ingredients. While taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat arise, it is important to immediately discontinue use and seek medical attention. Additionally, symptoms of acute pancreatitis may occur, so if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort is experienced, prompt consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, severe infections, or dehydration should not take this medication, and it should be temporarily ceased when undergoing surgery or receiving contrast agent examinations. It is safest for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as those breastfeeding, to avoid this medication. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, particularly when taken with other antidiabetic agents, thus frequent blood sugar monitoring is advised, and symptoms should be reported immediately. Furthermore, this medication can rarely cause a serious metabolic disturbance known as lactic acidosis; if sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or altered consciousness occurs, immediate discontinuation and treatment are required. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment and to undergo regular kidney function and blood tests. Diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, nasopharyngitis, constipation, muscle pain, limb pain, back pain, pruritus, thrombocytopenia, itching, dizziness, decreased appetite, hypoglycemia, joint pain with severe and disabling side effects, bullous pemphigoid, anemia, weight loss
