Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to aid blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be used alone or in combination with dietary and exercise therapy, and in cases where blood sugar control is difficult during initial treatment, it can be taken together with Metformin. It can also enhance blood sugar control when combined with various diabetes medications such as sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin. This helps in effectively controlling blood sugar with a combination of various treatment methods. Therefore, this medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
This medication is administered as a single dose of 100 mg once daily, either as monotherapy or in combination therapy, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. It can be taken regardless of meals. Dosage adjustment may be necessary based on renal function. In patients with moderate renal impairment (eGFR 30–45 mL/min/1.73 m2), a dose of 50 mg once daily is administered. In patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR 15–30 mL/min/1.73 m2) or requiring dialysis, a dose of 25 mg once daily is recommended. This medication can be administered regardless of dialysis times.
This medication may cause serious allergic reactions in some patients. These reactions may occur within 3 months after starting the medication, so caution is required. If symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. During the use of this medication, signs of pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, may appear, so symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting should be closely monitored. If pancreatitis is suspected, discontinue the medication immediately and inform healthcare professionals. This medication is not for use in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients allergic to this medication or its components should not take it. For patients with reduced kidney function, excretion of this medication may be slower, requiring dosage adjustments, and regular kidney function tests are important. In clinical trials, this medication has been shown to cause hypoglycemic episodes when used in conjunction with other blood sugar-lowering agents, so caution is needed when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Side effects such as headache, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, etc. have been reported during the use of this medication, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with healthcare professionals is recommended. This medication is not recommended for pregnant women, and breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children or adolescents under 18 years old, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, requiring dosage adjustments and kidney function tests. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal decontamination and monitoring through ECG may be required, and blood dialysis may be needed to eliminate the medication if necessary. If new symptoms or abnormal reactions occur during the use of this medication, inform the doctor immediately.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness (anaphylaxis), difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rashes and blisters with high fever, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), acute pancreatitis, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, vision abnormalities, paralysis

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius to keep the medication effective for a longer period.
