Improvement of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease symptoms
This medication is used for treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medication should be administered orally once a day at the same time every day. If necessary, it may be taken twice a day. Dose escalation: The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, and it should be increased by 5 mg per week over the first 3 weeks. First week (Days 1-7) administer 5 mg daily. Second week (Days 8-14) administer 10 mg daily. Third week (Days 15-21) administer 15 mg daily.
This medication should not be used by individuals with an allergy to any of its components. It should also not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver function or very decreased kidney function. Patients with epilepsy or those with a history of seizures should use this medication with caution. Additionally, concurrent use with certain medications such as amantadine, ketamine, or dextromethorphan may exacerbate side effects and should be avoided. Caution is required for patients in situations where urine acidity may change, as well as those with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension. When taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, or hypertension may occur; if symptoms worsen, consult a physician. Since there may be interactions with other medications, inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are currently taking, particularly anticoagulants, muscle relaxants, or antipsychotics. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a physician thoroughly before taking this medication, and it is advisable to discontinue breastfeeding if nursing. The safety and efficacy of this medication for children or adolescents under the age of 18 have not been established, so it should not be used in this population. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, hallucinations, or seizures may occur, so if suspected, seek immediate medical attention. This medication may affect reaction speed or concentration, so special care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
