Efficacy & effects

Auxiliary agent for marking small areas during breast tumor surgery.

View approved original text

This is a surgical auxiliary agent that helps to mark small areas that cannot be felt by hand during breast tumor excision surgery, utilizing localization devices or ultrasound. This drug assists in accurately locating the areas and increases the safety and precision of the surgery. As a result, it makes it possible to clearly identify the tumor site during surgery for effective removal. Such surgical auxiliaries contribute to patient recovery and reduce recurrence rates.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Use an 18-gauge needle with localization devices or ultrasound to identify the tumor area to be removed and inject approximately 0.3 to 1 mL of this product subcutaneously at that area. During injection, maintain the syringe body horizontally, slowly withdrawing while moving the needle back and forth. Use only the minimal amount, do not administer more than 1 mL.

Precautions

This drug should only be used by trained physicians and must be accurately marked only on the tumor area to be removed during surgery. All marked areas during surgery must be completely removed, and if not removed and left in the body for more than 6 months, inflammatory or immune reactions may occur. This drug should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to activated charcoal or dyes, or to pregnant or breastfeeding women. After use, side effects such as pain or a prickling sensation in the breast area, swelling, fever, or redness at the injection site may occur. This drug should only be injected subcutaneously and must not be administered by any other route. It should be used only when there is a clear surgical plan and only at the site of breast lesions. Administering beyond the necessary amount may cause the drug to spread to other tissues beyond the injection area. Ensure that the vial is shaken well before use as activated charcoal particles may block the needle, and injection should not be performed with excessive pressure. No safety studies have been conducted in pregnant women, nor has any research been done regarding use during breastfeeding. This drug is for single use only, and any remaining drug must be discarded. It should be stored out of reach of children. High doses administered intravenously may lead to pulmonary vessel accumulation of the drug, resulting in respiratory distress, therefore intravenous administration should be avoided.
