Treatment of erosive esophagitis and prevention of recurrence, improvement of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), particularly erosive esophagitis. It is also utilized as maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it may help alleviate various symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease even in the absence of esophagitis. It can be used appropriately depending on the patient's symptoms and condition, so patients can feel secure undergoing treatment. This medication effectively improves various symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux disease.
This medication should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals. Swallow it whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take it with any drink other than water. Do not chew or crush. For the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - For erosive esophagitis: 40/800 mg once daily for 4 weeks - If not resolved or symptoms persist, take for an additional 4 weeks - To prevent recurrence of esophagitis
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this medication or its components, a history of hypersensitivity, patients taking certain antivirals, nursing women, and patients with a history of heart disease should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with impaired liver or kidney function, the elderly, patients with cardiac or pulmonary issues, patients with electrolyte imbalances, and patients who need to limit sodium intake should use this medication cautiously. Care is needed when taking this medication as various adverse reactions may occur. For example, headaches, dizziness, dyspepsia, skin rashes, and rarely, blood abnormalities or liver function abnormalities, severe skin reactions may occur. Furthermore, with long-term use, electrolyte abnormalities such as hypomagnesemia may occur, so regular testing is necessary. Since this medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, bacterial overgrowth in the stomach may increase, raising the risk of infections such as diarrhea. There is also a possibility of increased risk of osteoporotic fractures with prolonged use, so bone density management is necessary. Additionally, this medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any medications, you must consult your doctor or pharmacist. Care should be taken especially when used with anticoagulants, antivirals, anticonvulsants, and immunosuppressants. If you are pregnant or nursing, the safety of this medication has not been fully established, so consultation with a physician before taking it is important. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so it is important to receive appropriate treatment depending on the symptoms. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers.
