Treatment of androgenetic alopecia
This medication is used for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, which occurs in adult males. Androgenetic alopecia is caused by genetic factors and the influence of male hormones. This drug helps to slow the progression of hair loss and supports healthy hair growth. With consistent use, it can be expected to thicken the hair in balding areas and increase density. Therefore, it helps improve hair loss symptoms and maintain hair health.
Generally, Finasteride is administered orally at a dosage of 1 mg once daily and can be taken regardless of meals. Typically, treatment effects can be seen after three months or more of usage, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain the therapeutic effect. The treatment period and efficacy should be continually assessed. If treatment is discontinued, the therapeutic effect will diminish within 12 months.
This medication should not be administered to children or women. In particular, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should avoid contact with broken pieces of this medication. If contact occurs, the drug may be absorbed through the skin, posing a risk to a male fetus. While taking this drug, symptoms of depression or mental health issues may occur, and should such symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a medical professional is required. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant must not take this medication, as it can pose a risk of abnormalities in the male fetus's reproductive organs. If there is a history of hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or if there are genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, it should also be avoided. Patients with liver function issues should use this medication cautiously, and individuals allergic to Yellow No. 5 should be careful as well. This medication may cause side effects related to sexual function, with reports of decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders. If these side effects occur, the medication should be discontinued and consultation with a doctor is advised. Long-term use may lead to side effects such as breast pain, breast enlargement, or testicular pain, so any such symptoms should be reported to a doctor. The use of this medication may lower prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, hence caution is required when interpreting PSA test results. There is no specific antidote for overdose, but generally reported severe side effects are rare. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to another container, as this may lead to a decrease in quality or accidents.
