Precautions

This medication should not be taken with nitrate drugs or NO donors that lower blood pressure, as it may cause blood pressure to drop too low; therefore, the physician must confirm whether the patient is taking such medications. Patients with cardiovascular disease should have their heart condition thoroughly evaluated before taking this medication, and it is advisable to avoid sexual activity that may strain the heart. This medication can temporarily lower blood pressure by expanding blood vessels, so caution is required, especially for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Patients who have had severe heart issues or strokes within the last six months, those with very low or high blood pressure, or patients with pigmentary retinopathy should not use this medication. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, immediate medical attention is required, as untreated cases can lead to tissue damage and permanent erectile dysfunction. This medication can significantly increase plasma concentration when taken with certain protease inhibitors, necessitating dosage adjustments. Patients with phenylketonuria should avoid this medication due to the artificial sweeteners present. Those who are allergic to this medication or are currently taking nitrate medications should not use it. Elderly patients, patients with decreased liver or kidney function, and those taking certain medications should use this drug cautiously and may start with a lower dose. Common side effects include headaches, flushing, dyspepsia, dizziness, visual disturbances, and other symptoms. Cardiovascular adverse reactions have been reported rarely and caution is advised, especially if they occur during or shortly after sexual activity. Caution should also be exercised due to potential visual disturbances or dizziness while driving or operating machinery. This medication should not be used with other erectile dysfunction treatments, and it is not suitable for pregnant women or children under the age of 18. Overdosing may exacerbate symptoms, so the recommended dosage should be strictly followed, and any adverse reactions should be reported to healthcare providers immediately.
