Relief of symptoms of osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis)
This medication is used to relieve symptoms or signs associated with osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease). However, as this drug selectively inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, it is essential to evaluate the overall risks for each patient before use. This can help reduce the likelihood of side effects and facilitate safe treatment. It is used as an effective treatment for alleviating osteoarthritis pain and reducing inflammation.
Before administering this medicine, consider the potential risks and benefits of this medicine and alternative treatments. As cardiovascular risk increases with higher doses and longer exposure to this medicine, use it for the shortest possible duration. Adverse reactions such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, and edema may occur during treatment with this medicine. Therefore, at least monthly, regularly reassess whether treatment should be continued based on symptom relief and the patient's response to treatment. This medicine may be taken with or without food. Adults: The recommended dose is 30 mg once daily, and the dose should not exceed 30mg daily. If there is no therapeutic benefit at the recommended dose, discontinue this medicine and consider an appropriate alternative treatment. Patients with hepatic impairment: No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score 5-9). However, use caution when administering this medicine to patients with moderate hepatic impairment because experience with its use in these patients is limited.
