It is used for the treatment of various bacterial skin infections, including impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, and infectious eczema, and it treats bacterial infections in wounds or burn sites. Thus, it helps effectively improve infections caused by wounds or burns. This medicine alleviates symptoms caused by skin infections and promotes recovery. Apply a small amount to the infected area 2-3 times a day for 10 days. If necessary, the treated area may be dressed or sealed.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Do not use this drug if you are allergic to this medication, its components, or polyethylene glycol, or if you have a history of such allergies. Patients with kidney conditions should exercise caution, as polyethylene glycol can be absorbed through damaged skin and excreted via the kidneys. It is also advisable for pregnant or potentially pregnant women and breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. It is important not to use this drug on wounds or damaged skin over an extended period. There is insufficient animal study evidence that long-term usage could impact immune function. When using this medication, skin reactions such as burning sensation, pain, itching, rash, or redness may occur. Occasionally, symptoms like nausea, skin dryness, pain, swelling, contact dermatitis, and increased secretion may also appear. Rarely, systemic allergic reactions may occur, so caution is advised. If severe irritation, itching, or rash occurs on the skin during use, discontinue use immediately, wash the area clean, and consult a doctor or pharmacist. It is recommended to conduct sensitivity testing to prevent the development of resistant bacteria and to use it for the shortest necessary duration. Furthermore, prolonged use alongside other antibiotics may carry the risk of excessive growth of fungi or other microorganisms. If symptoms do not improve after 3–5 days of use, consult a specialist. When applying to the face, take care to avoid contact with the eyes; there are no reported effects of this medication on driving or operating machinery. When using this medication with other drugs, be cautious as it may reduce antimicrobial effects or the stability of the drug. Breastfeeding women should also refrain from using this drug, as it is unknown whether it is transmitted through breast milk and it is safer to discontinue breastfeeding while using it. In case of overdose, toxicity is low; however, areas where excessive amounts have been applied should be washed clean and appropriate treatment sought if necessary.
