Reduction of hypertension and cardiovascular disease risk, improvement of dyslipidemia
This medication is used for patients who need to take telmisartan and rosuvastatin/ezetimibe simultaneously. First, telmisartan helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death from cardiovascular diseases in patients with essential hypertension and those in high-risk groups for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, it is used as an alternative treatment for patients who cannot take ACE inhibitors. Meanwhile, rosuvastatin/ezetimibe supports cardiovascular health by improving blood cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia. This medication reduces total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol while increasing HDL (good) cholesterol. Therefore, this medication is used to improve both blood pressure and cholesterol management, thereby lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
This medication is taken as one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For essential hypertension, it is recommended to take 40 mg orally once daily as telmisartan, which may be effective at 20 mg depending on the patient. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to a maximum of 80 mg. For reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, it is recommended to take 80 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used by pregnant women. If taken during pregnancy, it can cause serious harm to the fetus or newborn, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. There is a risk of muscle problems, so if severe muscle pain or weakness occurs, consult your doctor immediately. Special caution should be exercised in cases of severe infections, surgery, trauma, electrolyte imbalances, etc. Patients with poor liver function or a history of liver disease should consult their doctor before taking this medication and have regular liver function tests. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or certain kidney diseases should avoid using this medication, and caution is needed even in cases of mild kidney impairment. Interactions may occur when taken with other drugs, so if you are currently taking any medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider, especially when taken with certain antibiotics, antifungals, immunosuppressants, antihypertensive drugs, etc. This medication may increase potassium levels in the blood, so patients with hyperkalemia or at high risk should frequently check their blood potassium levels. Side effects such as muscle pain, fatigue, headache, indigestion, dizziness, etc. may occur, and if symptoms are severe or persist, consult your doctor. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised, especially when initially taking or changing the dosage. This medication contains certain dyes, so patients with allergies to these dyes must consult their healthcare provider before taking it.
