Emergency contraception effect
This medication is used to prevent pregnancy when taken immediately within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. The sooner it is taken in an emergency situation, the more effective it will be, so it is important to take it as quickly as possible. This medication provides a safe method for preventing pregnancy and complements regular contraceptive methods. If any adverse reactions or unsettling symptoms persist after taking this medication, it is advisable to consult a specialist. Please understand its role as an emergency contraceptive and use it appropriately according to the situation.
Administer 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel orally. It is recommended to take it as soon as possible after intercourse, ideally within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days). If vomiting occurs within 3 hours after taking, take another 1.5 mg immediately.
This medication should only be used temporarily as an emergency contraceptive and should not replace regular contraceptive methods. Since emergency contraception cannot completely prevent pregnancy in all cases, if your period is delayed by more than 5 days or if you experience abnormal bleeding, you must take a pregnancy test. It should not be administered to individuals allergic to this medication or its components, women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant, patients with severe liver dysfunction, and patients with genetic lactose-related issues. Patients with a risk of ectopic pregnancy or gastrointestinal disorders such as Crohn's disease, heart or kidney diseases should use this medication with caution. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, breast tenderness, delayed or abnormal menstruation, vomiting, and fatigue may occur, but most resolve within 48 hours. Since skin hypersensitivity or thrombosis may occur, any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. This medication should only be used once per menstrual cycle and must be taken within 72 hours after intercourse to be effective. You should use non-hormonal contraceptive methods, such as condoms, until the next menstrual period begins. This medication does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, so caution is necessary. Taking this medication with drugs that induce liver enzymes may reduce its effectiveness, so consult a physician if you are taking those medications. It should not be used during pregnancy as it may affect the fetus. If you are breastfeeding, it is recommended to refrain from nursing for at least 8 hours after taking the medication. In case of overdose, symptoms like nausea and bleeding may occur, but no serious side effects have been reported, and treatment can be administered based on symptoms. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children, and it should not be transferred to another container.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. It is advisable to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. This will help preserve the efficacy and safety of the medication for a long time.
