Precautions

Caution is advised as administering more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A daily to women in the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant may pose a risk for congenital malformations. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, kidney diseases, or those allergic to ingredients in this medicine should not take it. Infants under 12 months or patients with kidney stones or severe renal failure should also avoid this medicine. It should not be taken with phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline preparations, antacids, and levodopa. Infants under one year, patients receiving medical treatment, children exposed to a lot of sunlight, and those with hyperoxaluria must consult an expert before taking it. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, breastfeeding mothers, premature and infants should also consult a doctor before taking this medicine. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, skin itching, joint swelling, diarrhea, rash, irregular heartbeat, or neurological symptoms occur during use, stop immediately and consult an expert. Women taking oral contraceptives or with a risk of thrombosis should exercise caution as vitamin E may increase the risk of thrombosis. Long-term high-dose use may lead to tolerance, and some vitamins may cause neurological damage or blood anomalies, hence dosage and duration should be adhered to. This medicine may exacerbate peptic ulcers or affect blood glucose control and may cause hyperuricemia or liver damage, so caution is required. Symptoms such as gastrointestinal symptoms, edema, or heart failure signs may occur during use. If any adverse reactions occur, consult an expert immediately. Long-term high-dose administration of vitamin A can increase the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Taking with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene may pose a risk of hyperkalemia; thus, caution is warranted. In case of overdose, discontinue immediately and consult an expert, and if symptoms do not improve in one month, consult a doctor. Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and duration, and administer to children under the supervision of a guardian. Vitamin A is adequately supplied through normal diets; thus, when used as a supplement, daily doses should not exceed 5,000 IU. This medicine may affect urine test results, and it is advisable to avoid consuming tea containing tannins like green tea or black tea during or before taking it.
