(Hypertension, dyslipidemia) improvement and cardiovascular disease risk reduction
This medication is used in patients who require a combination of Amlodipine and Valsartan, specifically for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy. Amlodipine dilates blood vessels to lower blood pressure, while Valsartan regulates blood pressure. Additionally, Rosuvastatin improves hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, supporting vascular health and is used as an adjunct when dietary control is insufficient. This medication contributes to delaying the progression of atherosclerosis and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and myocardial infarction. Therefore, it is used to manage both blood pressure and cholesterol levels together to reduce cardiovascular disease risk.
This medication should be taken once a day with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., before breakfast). For the Amlodipine/Valsartan combination, dosages of 5/80 milligrams, 5/160 milligrams, and 10/160 milligrams are available and should be individualized based on blood pressure control. Rosuvastatin is initiated at a dose of 5 milligrams once daily, with an increase to 10 milligrams as needed.
This medication can cause serious harm to a fetus, especially in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with an allergy to any component of this medication, severely impaired liver or kidney function, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medicine. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels in the body should stabilize their condition before taking this medication, and if hypotensive symptoms appear during treatment, they should lie down and seek medical attention if necessary. Patients with elevated potassium levels or those taking other medications that can increase potassium should have their potassium levels monitored regularly, and patients with impaired kidney function should exercise caution. Particularly, patients who have undergone kidney transplants or have a history of angioedema, or those with severe heart failure or after myocardial infarction should use this medication cautiously and have their blood pressure and kidney function checked frequently. This medication can cause muscle pain, muscle weakness, and in rare cases, severe muscle damage known as rhabdomyolysis, so immediate consultation with a doctor is advised if any unusual muscle symptoms occur. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication, so starting with a lower dose and titrating slowly is advisable. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if other medications are currently being taken, it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication; those planning to become pregnant should consult a doctor. Safety and efficacy in pediatric or adolescent patients has not been established, and its use is not recommended.
