Supportive effect in ophthalmic surgeries (cataract, corneal transplant, glaucoma).
This medication is used to assist in various ophthalmic surgeries, including lens implantation during cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
1. Cataract surgeries and intraocular lens implantation: Slowly inject the required amount into the anterior chamber before or after lens removal using a needle or cannula. It should be injected before cataract extraction or intraocular lens insertion. 2. Corneal transplant surgery: After removing the corneal graft, fill the anterior chamber with this medication until the corneal surface and the fluid level are matched, then place the donor graft on this medication and suture. 3. Glaucoma filtration surgery: Inject this medication through a corneal puncture to replenish and maintain anterior volume during trabeculectomy.
This medication is made with sodium hyaluronate and is used mainly during ophthalmic surgery. This medication should not be administered to patients with allergies to its components or protein-based drugs. Various side effects may occur in the eye, such as increased intraocular pressure or inflammation. Additionally, corneal edema, opacity, anterior bleeding, iris-related issues, eye pain or itching, and decreased vision may occur. In rare cases, opacity on the surface of the intraocular lens may develop. This medication contains phosphate, which may cause a rare side effect called corneal calcification in patients with severe corneal damage, so caution is necessary. Immediately after surgery, intraocular pressure should be closely monitored, and appropriate actions should be taken if it rises. It is advisable to remove this medication by washing or suctioning as much as possible after surgery. Before performing ultrasonic emulsification suction, a space filled with perfusion fluid must be created between this medication and the lens via suction perfusion. When cleaning surgical instruments, solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds like benzalkonium chloride should not be used. This medication is a substance isolated and purified from avian cells, which may pose an immune reaction or other potential risks when administered. It is important not to use this medication with the drug hyaluronidase. This medicine is for ophthalmic use only, and the prescribed methods and dosages must be followed, and it should never be injected intravenously. Before use, it is advisable to leave the refrigerated medication at room temperature for about 30 minutes to adjust its temperature. Caution should be taken as precipitation may occur when mixed with components such as benzalkonium chloride or chlorhexidine. After opening, it should be used only once, and any remaining medication should be disposed of along with the container. When using this medication in combination with air, care must be taken to ensure that air does not enter beneath the iris. Administration should be done slowly and carefully, with attention not to overdose in the anterior chamber. Overdosing may cause increased intraocular pressure. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept sealed in a cool, dry place. It is also important to avoid transferring the medication to another container to prevent misuse and maintain quality.
