Treatment of essential hypertension and dyslipidemia (such as hypercholesterolemia)
This medication combines amlodipine and valsartan and is used when blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension is inadequate. The atorvastatin component helps lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases and treats dyslipidemia. It reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, need for vascular interventions, and angina in adults with multiple risk factors for cardiovascular disease. It also contributes to the reduction of myocardial infarction and stroke risk in diabetic patients. For patients with existing coronary artery disease, it lowers the risk of hospitalization due to myocardial infarction, stroke, or congestive heart failure and helps manage angina. In dyslipidemia, it is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increase HDL cholesterol levels. This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension, reducing cardiovascular disease risk, and treating dyslipidemia.
Take 1 tablet once daily with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning) if possible. The dosage of amlodipine/valsartan combination and atorvastatin should be individualized based on the patient's response and tolerance. The amlodipine/valsartan combination is administered in doses of 5/80mg, 5/160mg, or 10/160mg based on blood pressure control status. Atorvastatin is taken once daily.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with a known allergy to this medication or specific liver or kidney diseases, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion may develop hypotension, so their condition should be carefully monitored before and during treatment, and blood pressure should be closely monitored. Patients with high potassium levels should be cautious when taking potassium-containing supplements or medications with this medication, and potassium levels should be frequently checked. Patients with kidney function issues or those who have received kidney transplants should closely monitor kidney function while taking this medication. This medication may affect liver function, so it should be taken cautiously in patients with liver disease or abnormal liver function test results.
