Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis and improvement of symptoms related to gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication is effective in treating erosive reflux esophagitis associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It can also be used as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It also helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. Thus, it is used to improve symptoms and prevent recurrence in various situations of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
This medication should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals. It should be swallowed whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take with any beverages other than water. This medication should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Adults - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: administer 40/800 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis is not resolved or symptoms persist, take for another 4 weeks. - For recurrence prevention in patients with esophagitis, take 20/800 mg once daily.
This medication should not be used by individuals who have allergic reactions to this medication or its components, or have had such experiences in the past. Also, individuals taking specific antiviral drugs such as atazanavir, nelfinavir, and rilpivirine should avoid taking this medication. It is also advised that breastfeeding women do not take this medication. Patients with a history of myocardial infarction or heart attack should also avoid using this medication. Those with liver function issues or elderly individuals should take this medication with caution, as well as individuals with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, renal dysfunction, or heart and lung dysfunction. Patients with electrolyte imbalances or low potassium and calcium levels in the blood, and those with conditions such as hypertension or edema that require sodium intake restrictions should also exercise caution. This medication may cause various side effects, including headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, skin rash, and itching. Rarely, abnormalities in blood, liver function, severe allergic reactions, neurological symptoms, muscle weakness, and hearing problems may occur, necessitating immediate consultation with a physician if symptoms appear. In particular, this medication can reduce stomach acid, increasing the risk of bacterial proliferation in the stomach and heightening the risk of infection, so if diarrhea symptoms persist for a long time, it is essential to visit a hospital. Additionally, long-term use may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, so regular bone density testing is recommended for those at high risk of fractures. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals about any current medications. Special caution is needed when used with blood thinners, antivirals, anticonvulsants, and immunosuppressants. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established, so it should only be used under medical supervision in essential cases, and it is safest not to take it while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment should be administered according to symptoms, and it should be stored out of reach of children. Avoid transferring the medication to another container, as it may affect the quality.
