This medication is used in the treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It helps to treat erosive reflux esophagitis and serves as long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients who have developed esophagitis. Additionally, it is effective for alleviating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease that is not accompanied by esophagitis. This treatment improves uncomfortable symptoms for patients and is used to prevent recurrence.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken at least 1 hour before meals on an empty stomach. It should be swallowed whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take with any other beverages except water. Do not chew or crush the tablets. For the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Administer 40/800 mg once a day for 4 weeks. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components, have a history of hypersensitivity, are taking specific antiviral medications (Atazanavir, Nelfinavir, Rilpivirine), are breastfeeding, or have a history of myocardial infarction should avoid this medication. Patients with liver or kidney problems, elderly patients, those with severe gastrointestinal ulcers, and individuals with compromised heart or lung function should use this medication with caution. Patients with electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hypokalemia, hypocalcemia) or those who need to limit sodium intake should also exercise caution. Various side effects may occur while taking this medication. Reported side effects include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, myalgia, and dizziness. Rarely, severe blood abnormalities or allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, and severe skin reactions may occur, so patients should consult medical personnel immediately if unusual symptoms arise. Long-term use may require regular monitoring, and there may be a slight increase in the risk of gastrointestinal infections. Especially in cases of long-term use exceeding one year, there may be an increased risk of fractures, and patients with osteoporosis should be cautious. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is needed when used in combination with specific antiviral drugs, warfarin, methotrexate, clopidogrel, etc. Patients should inform their physician or pharmacist about all medications they are currently taking. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult healthcare professionals before using this medication, and it is recommended to avoid this medication while breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment is required according to symptoms along with general management. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
