Improvement of allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and chronic urticaria.
This medication is effective for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and skin itching. It can also be used with hydrocortisone topical preparations to alleviate symptoms in cases of eczema and dermatitis. In summary, it is used for the improvement of allergy-related conditions and skin disorders.
Adults and children aged 6 years and older should take 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime as cetirizine hydrochloride. Patients sensitive to adverse reactions may divide the dose into 5 mg each in the morning and evening. The dosage may be appropriately adjusted according to age and symptoms. Patients with renal impairment should adjust the dosage and administration frequency according to the creatinine clearance rate. - Normal (≥80 mL/min): 10 mg once daily - Mild (50-79 m
Children aged 6 years and older should take 10 mg orally once daily before bedtime, the same as adults. In children with renal impairment, the dosage should be individually adjusted based on the patient's renal clearance and weight.
This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to certain components or those who have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to similar drugs in the past. It is not safe for patients with severely impaired kidney function or for children under the age of 6. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should avoid taking it. It is advisable not to take this medication with certain drugs, particularly those like theophylline or ritonavir, as it may alter its effects. Alcohol consumption can exacerbate side effects, so it is best to avoid drinking while taking this medication. Individuals with impaired kidney or liver function, the elderly, epilepsy patients, or pregnant or nursing women should consult a physician or pharmacist before use. This medication may exacerbate urinary retention symptoms, therefore individuals with urinary problems such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should be cautious. In case of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, headache, itching, and irregular heartbeat may occur, and immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. While taking this medication, side effects like drowsiness or dizziness can occur, so care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. It is advisable to temporarily discontinue this medication prior to allergy testing, and food intake may slow the absorption rate, but it does not affect efficacy. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and in its original container for safety.
