Treatment of erosive esophagitis and alleviation of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially erosive esophagitis. It is also effective for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients. Additionally, it is used to alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It helps improve symptoms related to various gastroesophageal conditions.
This medication should be taken at least 1 hour before meals on an empty stomach. It should be swallowed whole with at least half a glass of water. Other beverages should not be used with it. It should not be chewed or crushed. 1. Adults - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40/800 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or are not alleviated, take for another 4 weeks. - Prevention of recurrence in esophagitis patients
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For instance, patients with allergies to this medication or its components, a history of hypersensitivity reactions, those taking certain antiviral drugs, breastfeeding women, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should not use this medication. Patients with liver or kidney function issues, the elderly, those with impaired heart or lung function, and patients with electrolyte imbalances should use this medication with greater caution. Particularly, this medication contains sodium and sodium bicarbonate, so caution is needed for patients who require sodium intake restrictions. Care should be taken when taking this medication as various adverse reactions may occur. Commonly reported side effects include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, while more serious side effects such as blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, skin rash, and myalgia have been reported rarely. If you experience worsening myalgia or weakness, consult a doctor immediately. Due to its action of suppressing gastric acid secretion, this medication may lower gastric acidity and increase the risk of certain bacterial infections, so notify healthcare personnel if diarrhea symptoms persist. Long-term use may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, hence patients with low bone density require periodic examinations. Additionally, long-term administration may lead to hypomagnesemia, so regular monitoring of magnesium levels in the blood is necessary. This medication has many drug interactions that can affect the efficacy or side effects of other concurrently taken medications, so it is crucial to inform healthcare providers of any currently taken medications. Caution is especially warranted when combined with anticoagulants, antiviral drugs, anticonvulsants, and immunosuppressants. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medication and should generally avoid its use during breastfeeding. In case of overdose, there are no specific antidotes, so treatment should be symptomatic and supportive. This medication must be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
