Treatment and prevention of reflux esophagitis, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition that occurs due to reflux between the esophagus and stomach, and is used for the treatment of reflux esophagitis. Long-term maintenance therapy is necessary for the prevention of recurrence in patients with esophagitis, and it is also effective in relieving symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. This medication helps improve uncomfortable symptoms in patients and prevents recurrence.
This medication should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals. It should be swallowed whole with at least half a cup of water. It should not be taken with any beverage other than water. This medication should not be chewed or crushed. For the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): - Treatment of reflux esophagitis: 40/800 mg taken once daily for 4 weeks, - If esophagitis has not resolved or symptoms persist, continue for another 4 weeks.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, patients taking specific antiviral medications, nursing women, and those with a history of myocardial infarction should not take this medication. Patients with liver or kidney impairment, elderly patients, those with heart or lung dysfunction, and patients with severe digestive tract ulcers should use this medication with caution. Especially in cases of electrolyte imbalance or those requiring sodium intake restrictions, careful monitoring is necessary. Various adverse reactions may occur when taking this medication. For example, blood-related problems, allergic reactions, neurological symptoms, gastrointestinal disturbances, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, muscle pain, etc., have been reported. If any of these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. Additionally, as this medication suppresses gastric acid, there may be an increased risk of bacterial overgrowth in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in slightly increased infection risk. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, so regular check-ups are needed for patients at risk of osteoporosis. This medication may interact with other drugs, so particularly when taken alongside anticoagulants, antiviral medications, and anticonvulsants, careful monitoring by healthcare professionals is required. The safety of this medication has not been sufficiently established during pregnancy, so pregnant women should take it with caution after consultation with a doctor, and nursing women are advised not to take this medication. In cases of overdose, symptoms may be temporary, but as there are no specific antidotes, appropriate treatment and monitoring according to symptoms are necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
Hives, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, shock, hyponatremia, hypomagnesemia, skin and mucous membrane syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), microscopic colitis, jaundice, hepatitis, liver failure, encephalopathy, interstitial nephritis, severe edema, severe allergic reactions, severe skin adverse reactions.
Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, anxiety, mental confusion, depression, aggression, hallucinations, taste disturbance, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, increased liver enzymes, dermatitis, itching, rash, alopecia, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, abdominal bloating, allergic reactions, and others.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air or moisture ingress, and should ideally be kept at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. It is safe to avoid direct sunlight and not to store it in very hot or cold places.
