Treatment and prevention of recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis, relief of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease
This medication is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It especially helps to alleviate and treat the symptoms of patients with erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also used as a long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is effective in alleviating symptoms in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. This medication helps improve reflux symptoms and maintain esophageal health.
This medication should be taken at least 1 hour before meals on an empty stomach. Swallow it whole with at least half a cup of water. Do not take it with other beverages except for water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. 1. Adults - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: Take 40/800 mg once a day for 4 weeks. If there is no improvement or symptoms persist, continue for another 4 weeks. - Maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its components, or to benzimidazole derivatives, should not use it. Patients taking atazanavir, nelfinavir, or rilpivirine-containing products, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of myocardial infarction should also avoid using this medication. Patients with poor liver or kidney function, elderly patients, those with heart or lung issues, and patients with severe gastrointestinal ulcers should use this medication with caution. Additionally, patients with electrolyte imbalances or those requiring sodium intake restrictions should be careful. This medication can cause various side effects. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Rarely, severe adverse reactions such as decreased blood cell count, liver function abnormalities, skin rashes, hair loss, muscle pain, and nephritis have been reported. Long-term use may lead to issues such as hypomagnesemia, increased risk of fractures, and increased risk of bacterial infections in the stomach, thus regular inspections are necessary. This medication has many interactions with other drugs, which can alter the effects of concurrently used medications. Therefore, it is necessary to consult with a doctor or pharmacist, especially when taking certain antivirals, anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and methotrexate. The safety of this medication has not been adequately proven in pregnant women, so it should be administered with caution during pregnancy, and it is advisable for nursing mothers not to use this medication. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, hence treatment should be symptomatic and supportive. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and it is better not to transfer it to another container to maintain quality.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, anaphylactic reactions/shock, severe allergic reactions, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, severe hypomagnesemia, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), microscopic colitis, liver failure, jaundice accompanied or not.

This medication is prone to being affected by air and moisture, so it should be stored in a sealed container. It is good to maintain the storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
