Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition where the contents of the stomach reflux into the esophagus, causing uncomfortable symptoms. This medicine is effective for treating erosive reflux esophagitis and is also used for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of GERD even in the absence of esophagitis. This drug protects the esophageal mucosa and improves symptoms, thereby enhancing the quality of life for patients. Therefore, it is used for the treatment and alleviation of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should not be used in patients with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or its components. Additionally, it is also not safe for patients taking specific antiviral medications such as atazanavir and nelfinavir, nursing women, and patients taking rilpivirine-containing preparations. Patients with a history of myocardial infarction or heart issues should avoid using this medication. Caution is required for patients with liver or kidney problems, the elderly, patients with weakened heart or lung function, and those with severe gastrointestinal ulcers. Patients with electrolyte imbalances or those who need to restrict sodium intake should also be monitored closely. This drug may cause various side effects, such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, skin rash, muscle pain, and liver function abnormalities, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. In particular, serious skin reactions, blood disorders, hepatitis, and muscle damage may occur rarely, so caution is advised. This medication inhibits gastric acid, which may increase bacterial proliferation in the stomach, slightly raising the risk of infections such as diarrhea. Long-term use may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, so patients at risk may need to undergo regular check-ups.
