Sitagliptin Tablet 50 mg (Sitagliptin Hydrochloride Hydrate)

Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 100 mg, and the maximum daily dose is 100 mg. It can be taken without regard to meals. In patients with renal impairment, dose adjustment is necessary. For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (eGFR 45 to less than 90), dose adjustment is not needed. Patients with moderate renal impairment and a glomerular filtration rate of 30 to less than 45 should be administered 50 mg once daily.

This medication may cause severe allergic reactions, so extra caution is required during the first three months. If symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. During treatment with this medication, if symptoms of pancreatitis such as severe abdominal pain or vomiting arise, inform medical personnel immediately. It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients with impaired kidney function require dose adjustments and should undergo regular kidney function tests. When this medication is used with other diabetes medications, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so blood glucose levels should be monitored closely. If severe joint pain or skin blistering occurs, discontinue the medication immediately and inform a physician. It is advisable to avoid the use of this medication during pregnancy or lactation. For children, its safety and efficacy are not established, thus its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, immediate hospital treatment is necessary, and this medication can be partially removed by hemodialysis.

Serious side effects

Hives, severe hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema), skin disorders including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, fatal/non-fatal hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure (sometimes requiring dialysis), severe and disabling joint pain, bullous pemphigoid, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, elevated liver enzymes, liver abnormalities (including jaundice and systemic malaise), pneumonia, diabetes complications, metabolic acidosis

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air or moisture from entering. It is best to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature.
