How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication for monotherapy or combination therapy is 20 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals. Dose adjustment is not required for patients with renal impairment or mild to moderate hepatic impairment.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. First, patients who are allergic to the active ingredient or other components should not take this medication. Additionally, this medication is inappropriate for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, pre-coma state, or type 1 diabetes requiring insulin therapy. Patients with severe infections, those undergoing surgery, or those who have sustained severe trauma also need insulin therapy and should not use this medication. When using this medication, caution should be exercised for patients with severely impaired liver function or heart failure. It is particularly not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. Caution is also needed for patients taking sulfonylureas or insulin. Patients with hypoglycemia risk such as those with pituitary or adrenal insufficiency, poor nutritional status or irregular meal patterns, those who engage in vigorous exercise, and patients with excessive alcohol consumption should also exercise caution. Patients with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction, as well as those at risk of cardiac rhythm abnormalities should be careful when using this medication. Additionally, if symptoms of pancreatitis appear, consult a doctor immediately. This medication may cause side effects such as hypoglycemia, constipation, liver function abnormalities, interstitial pneumonia, bullous skin disease, and acute pancreatitis. Hypoglycemia may occur more frequently when taken with other diabetes medications, so if symptoms of hypoglycemia appear, it is necessary to consume foods containing sugar. If constipation, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, or severe vomiting occurs, discontinue use and consult a doctor. If interstitial pneumonia is suspected, immediate examination and treatment are necessary. If blisters or ulcers appear on the skin, consult a specialist for appropriate action. During the use of this medication, you should be well aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and take care when driving or working at heights. Additionally, severe arthralgia or bullous skin disease may occur, so inform healthcare professionals immediately if these symptoms appear. This medication may alter blood concentrations when taken with certain other drugs, so it is important to discuss co-administered medications with healthcare professionals. Especially when taken with drugs that stimulate insulin secretion, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dose adjustment may be necessary. Use of this medication is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and safety in pediatric patients has not been established. Elderly patients often have decreased physiological functions, so it should be used cautiously. In the event of overdose, standard treatments should be performed, and symptoms should be closely monitored, with adjunctive therapy if necessary.
