View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered alone if blood sugar control is inadequate, and it can be used with metformin for patients starting treatment. Additionally, it is added for treatment when monotherapy with sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin is insufficient. This medication is beneficial for patients with type 2 diabetes who have difficulty managing blood sugar through various routes, thus improving effective blood sugar control.
