View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can also be administered as monotherapy; however, it can be combined with metformin in patients who have not previously used diabetes medications or have difficulty controlling blood sugar with monotherapy. Additionally, if monotherapy with sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin is insufficient to control blood sugar, this medication may be used in combination. It is also added to therapies involving multiple drugs when blood sugar control is difficult, enhancing therapeutic effects. By using various treatment methods in conjunction, it aids in improving blood sugar control.
