Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes, and it is important not to administer it to specific patients. For example, it should not be used by patients who are allergic to its components or who have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or diabetic coma. It is also not suitable for patients with severe infections, pre or post-surgery, or those with severe trauma. Administration should be cautious in patients with very poor liver function or heart failure, especially those with severe heart failure. Patients at high risk of hypoglycemia, such as those with pituitary or adrenal insufficiency, malnutrition, irregular eating habits, intense exercise, or excessive alcohol consumption, should be monitored closely. Patients with a history of abdominal surgery or intestinal obstruction should also be cautious when taking this medication. This medication may cause side effects such as hypoglycemia, constipation, liver dysfunction, interstitial pneumonia, blistering skin diseases, acute pancreatitis, etc., so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare providers immediately. In particular, if symptoms of hypoglycemia occur, appropriate measures such as sugar intake should be taken, and glucose administration may be required. When used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylurea medications, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so dose adjustments may be necessary. Additionally, patients with a history of heart disease or QT interval prolongation should be cautioned about the risk of side effects. It is not recommended for use in pregnant women or nursing mothers, and safety in children has not been established. Elderly patients should be monitored closely for physical decline when taking this medication. In cases of overdose, general treatment and monitoring are required, and it should be stored out of reach of children. During treatment with this medication, it is important to be aware of hypoglycemia symptoms and how to manage them, and to inform healthcare providers immediately if symptoms of acute pancreatitis or skin abnormalities occur.
