View approved original text

This medication is used to assist with blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with dietary therapy and physical activity. Initially, this medication may be administered alone; if blood sugar control is insufficient, it may be used in combination with metformin, an existing treatment. Furthermore, for patients whose single therapy with sulfonylurea, metformin, thiazolidinediones, or insulin is inadequate, this medication can be added. Even in cases where combination therapies are ineffective, adding this medication helps improve blood sugar control. Thus, it is used to enhance blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes patients with various treatment methods.
