How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 100 mg, whether as monotherapy or combination therapy, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. In cases of moderate renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 30-45 mL/min/1.73 m2), a dose of 50 mg once daily is indicated. For severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] 15-30 mL/min/1.73 m2) or patients requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, the dosage should be adjusted according to kidney function.

Precautions

This medication may cause allergic reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing occur after administration, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. While taking this medication, symptoms of pancreatitis, such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever may occur, so if these symptoms appear, immediately discontinue the medication and visit a hospital. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and it should not be administered to those with allergies to this medication or its components. Patients with decreased kidney function need to adjust the dosage of this medication, so appropriate dosing must be determined through kidney function tests. When using this medication with other blood sugar-lowering agents, particularly insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase; thus, careful monitoring of blood sugar levels is required, and dosage adjustments should be considered as needed. In some patients, severe joint pain or skin conditions may occur; if such symptoms arise, consult a physician immediately to determine whether to discontinue the medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and safety in pediatric patients has not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients are more likely to have impaired kidney function, so kidney function should be monitored regularly, and dosage adjustments made when administering this medication. In case of overdose, general treatment such as removing the medication from the gastrointestinal tract should be performed, and if necessary, hemodialysis may be carried out to remove the drug. This medication has minimal interactions with other drugs, but it is advisable to consult a physician or pharmacist when taking certain medications.
