Adult dose

Generally, finasteride is administered orally at a dose of 1 mg once daily, irrespective of meals. Generally, it takes at least 3 months of use to observe a therapeutic effect, and continuous usage is recommended to maintain the therapeutic effect. Treatment duration and efficacy should be evaluated continuously. The therapeutic effect will disappear within 12 months after discontinuation of the medication.

This medication should not be administered to pediatric patients or females. In particular, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant must take care not to touch broken pieces of this medication. This drug may cause mental side effects such as depression or mood changes, so if feelings of depression or suicidal thoughts arise, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional immediately. Administering this medication to pregnant women poses a risk of abnormalities in the external genitalia of male fetuses; therefore, it must not be taken during pregnancy. Individuals with a known allergy to this medication or those with lactose intolerance, as well as those allergic to soy or peanuts, should not use it. Patients with liver function problems or dyslipidemia should exercise caution when using this medication. While taking this medication, side effects related to sexual function, such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders, may occur, but most symptoms improve after discontinuing the medication. Side effects such as breast tenderness or enlargement, rash, headache, and dizziness have also been reported, so if any unusual symptoms occur, consult a doctor. This drug can lower blood prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, so caution is needed when interpreting PSA test results. There is no specific antidote for overdose, but it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dose. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container. While no clinically significant interactions with other drugs are known, caution is still needed when using this medication alongside other medications.

Serious side effects

• Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), severe allergic reactions (including angioedema)
• Severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the oral or ocular mucosa (severe skin adverse reactions)
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory issues accompanied by cough and fever
• Skin or eyes turning yellow (jaundice), extreme lethargy (liver issues)
• Sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances

Mild side effects

Decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders (decreased semen), breast tenderness, breast enlargement, testicular pain, blood dyscrasia, dizziness, headache, palpitations, elevated liver enzymes, myalgia, muscle weakness, anxiety, persistent decreased libido after discontinuation, persistent sexual dysfunction after discontinuation (erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders), orgasm disorders, male infertility, decreased semen quality, heartburn, rash, itching, urticaria, angioedema (lips, tongue, throat)

This medication is sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 15 degrees and 30 degrees Celsius to ensure the efficacy of the medication is preserved over time.
