This drug is used as an adjunct to dietary changes to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, ApoB protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially those with heterozygous familial or non-familial and mixed dyslipidemia, and to raise HDL cholesterol. It is also used in conjunction with other treatments to reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or when other treatments are ineffective. This drug has been studied for certain types of dyslipidemia and should be combined with non-drug treatments such as dietary changes, considering risk factors. It is important to check and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia before use, and periodically monitor cholesterol levels through lipid tests. Thus, this drug helps in controlling cholesterol and lipid levels to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
