View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise therapy to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. Initially, it is administered alone; however, if blood sugar control is insufficient with monotherapy, it can be combined with other diabetes medications, such as metformin. It is also added when blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy using sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin. Additionally, this medication can be used effectively to improve blood sugar when blood sugar control is not achieved even with the combination of several diabetes medications. This medication assists in managing diabetes by aiding in blood sugar control in various cases.
