Initially, it can be administered alone, and if blood sugar control is insufficient, it may be used in combination with other diabetes medications like metformin or sulfonylureas. It can also be used alongside insulin treatment if blood sugar control is challenging. This medication aids in improving blood sugar control at various stages of treatment, thus it can be appropriately used according to the patient's condition. Ultimately, this medication is used for effective management of blood sugar.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dose of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be administered regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to the active ingredient or any other components. Additionally, it should not be taken by individuals with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is needed when taking this medication together with insulin or sulfonylureas, as it could increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Particularly, patients with severely decreased kidney function may face a higher risk of hypoglycemia, and dose adjustment may be necessary. Experience with this medication in heart failure patients is limited, so it should be used cautiously. Also, acute pancreatitis may occur during treatment with this medication, thus if persistent and severe abdominal pain arises, it is essential to stop the medication immediately and consult a doctor.
