Reduction of cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia, and risk mitigation of cardiovascular diseases through HDL increase
This medication is used as an adjunct to diet for lowering total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used as adjunctive therapy for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in cases where existing lipid-lowering treatments are insufficient. This drug considers risk factors related to cardiovascular diseases and should be used in conjunction with appropriate dietary measures to be effective. It is important to check for secondary causes (e.g., diabetes, hypothyroidism) before starting treatment and manage them accordingly. Treatment effects should be monitored through blood lipid tests, and for patients with acute coronary syndromes, lipid levels should be measured upon admission for reference. This medication helps improve dyslipidemia.
This medication is taken once daily, regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the recommended starting dose is 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg once daily, and for patients requiring a greater reduction in LDL cholesterol (55% or more), the recommended starting dose is 10/40 mg once daily. The recommended dosage for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is 10/40 mg or 10/80 mg once daily. Initiation of therapy
