Improvement of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia (total cholesterol, LDL-C, etc.)
This medication lowers total cholesterol and harmful LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, while raising beneficial HDL cholesterol levels. It can also be used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, particularly as an adjunct when other treatments are ineffective. This medication is more effective when combined with appropriate dietary changes and lifestyle modifications. When administered to patients at high risk for cardiovascular diseases, multiple risk factors need to be taken into account, and it is important to rule out other causes of dyslipidemia before starting treatment. Treatment direction is determined by checking total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels. This medication helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic vascular diseases by controlling cholesterol levels.
This medication is administered once daily, regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, it is given in a dosage range of 10/10 mg to 10/80 mg per day, with a recommended initial dose of 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg per day. For patients needing greater reductions in LDL cholesterol, an initial dose of 10/40 mg per day is recommended. The recommended dosage for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is 10/40 mg or 10/80 mg per day.

During treatment, side effects such as muscle pain, muscle cramps, muscle weakness, fatigue, lethargy, dizziness, indigestion, headache, peripheral edema, malaise, fever, rhinitis, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, weight gain, loss of appetite, constipation, abdominal distension, dyspepsia, throat and laryngeal pain, nosebleeds, insomnia, nightmares, sensory disturbances, numbness, abnormal taste, memory loss, and peripheral neuropathy may occur, so caution is advised. Particularly if muscle-related symptoms are severe or persistent, muscle damage should be assessed through examinations, and if necessary, medication should be discontinued. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it's essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications being taken, especially with specific antibiotics, antiviral drugs, antifungal drugs, immunosuppressants, antihypertensives, hypoglycemic agents, and oral contraceptives. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding as it may harm the fetus or infant, and fertile women should practice appropriate contraception.
