This medication helps to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels and increase HDL cholesterol levels when used in combination with a diet for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. For patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it can be used as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies or alone when other treatments are not effective. This medication should be used alongside non-pharmacological measures and dietary adjustments to reduce cardiovascular disease risk associated with dyslipidemia. It is important to identify and manage secondary causes like diabetes and hypothyroidism before treatment. Regular lipid tests should include total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. This medication improves cardiovascular health by treating dyslipidemia with proper management.
