View approved original text

This medication helps reduce total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL-cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly in heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. It is also used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to manage lipid levels in patients with mixed dyslipidemia. For patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, it is used as an adjunct or alternative treatment alongside other therapies, contributing to improved lipid levels and reduced risk of vascular complications. This drug is to be used in conjunction with appropriate dietary adjustments, and administration should occur after identifying other secondary causes (e.g., diabetes, hypothyroidism). It is also beneficial for managing lipid levels in patients post-acute coronary events. Thus, this medication is effectively used to improve lipid levels in dyslipidemia patients and protect cardiovascular health.
